I try different deodorants on a regular basis. As a couponer, I grab whatever I can get for dirt cheap and/or free, and am not brand loyal. I can’t afford to be. I have 6 kids, and my oldest is a teenager now. OMG, MY OLDEST IS A TEENAGER! Let’s pretend that I never said that…..
With him growing up and the pressure of having name brand things from his friends, he is all about AXE right now, because it is the “cool” thing for a teenage boy. Thing is, AXE doesn’t go on sale very often, so we have a little secret here. He takes his AXE to school for gym, but he uses whatever we have at home, and right now, we have Dry Idea AdvancedDry because they sent it to use to review.
It may not be the “cool” deodorant, you know…the one that gets you all the girls, but he’s 13, he doesn’t need girls! Or, that’s what I think anyway. Dry Idea does the trick, and with his hormones all over the place right now, he sweats like crazy!
Dry Idea AdvancedDry says it has 72 hour protection, but if you are familiar with teenage boys at all, you will realize that this is not an accurate number. I mean, he does only need to apply this stuff once a day, compared to the multiple times he has to apply AXE during gym class alone, so that is a plus, but it doesn’t last 72 hours. I mean, there are these things called showers, and that washes deodorants away I would assume. I am not sure how they came up with 72 hours, but it does work for a full day with only 1 application and that is really as sufficient as we need.
The good thing about the roll on deodorant that they sent us, is that it is clear, so there is no stains on his clothes. He wears a lot of black (didn’t we all as a teen?) and white marks are never attractive and are often embarrassing, clear is far better!
Dry Idea AdvancedDry is hypoallergenic and is infused with Vitamin E, which is a plus, since he is like me and has sensitive skin. He hasn’t had any breakouts with this deodorant, like he has with others.
The thing he doesn’t like about this roll on is that it is “wet” when it goes on, but honestly, all roll ons are. I tried explaining that to him, but he still doesn’t appreciate the fact that he is getting his armpits wet, trying to get them dry. They offer roll on, gel or aerosol, and all three of those will give you an initial wet feel. Aerosol would give you the least wetness, followed by gel, however, we try to remain eco-friendly as much as possible, so aerosol is out of the question. If you just let the deodorant sink in before putting your clothes on, you will have a faster drying time.
All-in-all we really like this deodorant, because it does it’s job and it doesn’t have an overbearing stench like the “cool” deodorants. Ok, that last part was me talking, not my son, I just can’t stand the smell of those overly perfumed deodorants, so this really suits my nose.
Dry Idea has a fantastic Sweepstakes that I wanted to tell you all about. Until March 29th, 2013, you can head over to their facebook page to enter $1,000 in prizes! There will be one (1) grand prize of $500 in the form of a check or gift card and ten (10) 2nd place prizes of $50! Make sure to get your entry in! Dry Idea gave us 3 coupons for 1 FREE roll-on, gel or aerosol product up to 6oz, and since I see these go on BOGO sale a lot, you could basically end up with 6 free deodorants by using them when that sale hits again!
